Title of Position:       Executive Director, MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation

Department Name:   MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation

Reports to:                Board of Directors, MLB-MLBPA YDF

Purpose:  Provide leadership of the non-profit 501(c)3 MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation spanning all areas of operations including fundraising, operations management, grant sourcing, selection, and management. 

Primary Responsibilities:

Grant Management: Manage all duties related to grant sourcing, selection and management

  • Collection and review of grant applications from candidate organizations
  • Selection of grant applications, advising board of all grant applications, and making recommendations to the board regarding grant selections
  • Provides support to organizations in filling out the application
  • Ongoing management of grant recipients to ensure proper use of funding, regular reporting on progress, and compliance with all grant terms.

Operations Management: Oversee all ongoing operations of the Foundation

  • Administer regular board and staff meetings
  • Work with representatives of MLB and the MLBPA to administer the foundation
  • Manage the website, grant application, and ongoing activities and marketing efforts
  • Directly supervise one or more staff members to support ongoing operations

Fundraising: Manage fundraising activities for the Foundation to ensure sustainable cash flows into the Foundation

  • Work with Board Members to identify opportunities with Players and Clubs to contribute funds to the Foundation
  • Identify programs or events to help solicit funds from fans and the general public

Desired Skills:

  • Very strong written and oral communication skills
  • Foundation management experience, including experience selecting and evaluating grant contributions
  • Fundraising experience raising and sourcing charitable contributions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to manage relationships and staff members
  • Familiarity with, and interest in, baseball and softball and growth of the sport at the amateur level


  • Undergraduate degree with strong academic performance
  • 10+ years professional experience including at least 5 years of experience working in the non-profit sector
