Tony Watson played seven seasons with the Pirates before heading to the West Coast to play for the Dodgers, Giants and now Angels. The 2014 All-Star has appeared in 655 career games, all in relief, and owns a lifetime 2.90 ERA.

Brandon Crawford joined the Giants crew in 2011 and since then, the 3x Gold Glove shortstop has started 10 straight Opening Days. The fourth-round draft pick out of UCLA in 2008 has earned a pair of rings and two
All-Star nods over 10 major-league seasons.

Drafted in the 50th round – 1,475th overall – in 2006, Jarrod Dyson rose through the ranks and made his big-league debut in 2010 with the Royals. Before returning to the Royals for the 2021 season, Jarrod logged some games with the Diamondbacks, Pirates and Mariners. Primarily a center fielder, he has stolen 262 bases in his career.

Jhoulys Chacin has started 227 games out of his 273 appearances with the Rockies, Braves, Brewers, Diamondbacks, Padres, Angels and Red Sox. From Maracaibo, Venezuela, Jhoulys made his big-league debut in 2009 at age 21.

A first rounder out of Northeastern University, Adam Ottavino debuted in 2010 with the Cardinals. He returned to a big-league roster in 2012 with the Rockies and has been a durable presence on the mound. In 499 appearances, almost all in relief, Adam owns a 3.48 career ERA with 616 strikeouts, averaging 10.4 per nine innings. 

With a 3.96 ERA in 231 career games – 201 of them starts – Danny Duffy has logged 10 years of service all with the Royals. The third rounder was a member of the World Series 2015 squad, and joins former teammates Mike Moustakas and Eric Hosmer in the 10-year club in 2021.

Kyle Seager, a UNC product and older brother of Corey Seager has spent the duration of his career in a Mariners uniform. In 2014 he made the AL All-Star team and earned a Gold Glove for his defense at the hot corner.

Information Technology Internship

Description:

Assist IT staff with providing technical support and assistance. Specifically: Support PCs, laptops and printers in networked Windows environment, Support IOS and Android mobile devices, Provide end user support to technical and non-technical staff, Repair computers infected with spyware, adware and/or viruses, and Assist with equipment inventories, server room organization and project implementation.

Legal - Law Clerk

The Association prefers applicants who are in their second year of law school, have taken a labor law course prior to the start of their clerkship, and an interest in practicing union-side labor law.  The Association looks to hire students from New York-area law schools because our clerkships run for a full year (full time during the summer and part-time during the fall and spring semesters).  Students may apply for the MLBPA’s Law Clerk position by submitting their resume, writing sample, and other materials to the Peggy Browning Fund.

Description:

Much like a law clerk at any other union or union-side law firm, the MLBPA’s law clerk will work on a variety of legal research and writing assignments.  Where practical, the Fellow may attend arbitration hearings, grievance meetings, and other meetings with league officials, agents and players.

Timeline:  1 year (May/June start)

MLB Players, Inc. Internship

MLB Players, Inc. Law Clerk

1L or 2L with excellent academic credentials. Course work and practical experience in intellectual property law and sports, media or entertainment industries are a plus. Strong proficiency in legal research. Excellent legal analysis and writing skills. Ability to multi-task and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.

Description:

Work directly with attorneys and business parties at MLB Players, Inc., which oversees the business affairs and licensing matters for MLBPA. Primary responsibilities include researching legal issues, including those relating to intellectual property, sports and contract law, and assisting with the enforcement of intellectual property rights. The Law Clerk also will assist with licensing agreements, trademark proceedings and other projects as needed.

Timeline: 3 months (possible 7-8 month extension)

Commitment: Full-time Summer, Part-time Fall & Spring semesters

Salary Arbitration Associate
