NEW YORK, Aug. 28 – Major League Baseball Players Association Executive Director Tony Clark today released the following statement:
“The events of recent days, weeks and months serve as a stark and unfortunate reminder that Jackie Robinson’s fight for racial equality in our society endures. As we recognize his legacy today, Players of all races and backgrounds join together to continue the work of Jackie and all of the civil rights leaders who suffered and sacrificed before and after him so that all of our children can one day grow up in a society that offers genuine equality -- free of fear, free of discrimination and free to pursue their dreams. The Players Association is committed to support our Players in the effort to achieve these important goals both in society and in our sport.”

NUEVA YORK, 28 de agosto - El Director Ejecutivo de la Asociación de Peloteros de Grandes Ligas, Tony Clark, emitió hoy la siguiente declaración:
“Los eventos de los últimos días, semanas y meses sirven como un recordatorio duro y desafortunado de que la lucha de Jackie Robinson por la igualdad racial en nuestra sociedad perdura. Al reconocer su legado hoy, los Peloteros de todas las razas y orígenes se unen para continuar el trabajo de Jackie y todos los líderes de derechos civiles que sufrieron y se sacrificaron antes y después de él para que todos nuestros niños puedan algún día crecer en una sociedad que ofrece igualdad genuina, libre de miedos, libre de discriminación y libre para perseguir sus sueños. La Asociación de Peloteros se compromete a apoyar a nuestros Peloteros en el esfuerzo por lograr estos importantes objetivos tanto en la sociedad como en nuestro deporte".
