The First Signatures

It began with a small group of players willing to stand together and put their names on something bigger than themselves. In the late 1960s, those early signatories helped establish the foundation of a union built on unity, conviction, and the belief that players should have a voice in the game. Their signatures marked the beginning of a new era—one defined by collective strength and shared purpose.

Building Momentum

As the game evolved, so did the union. Through the 1970s and 1980s, more players stepped forward, more agreements were reached, and each signature added strength to a growing movement that reshaped the relationship between players and the sport. What started as a small group became a unified voice capable of driving real change across the game.

A Modern Union

Over time, the MLBPA expanded its reach, representing players across generations and around the world. From the 1990s into the modern era, the names on these agreements reflect a union that continues to adapt, advocate, and push the game forward on behalf of its players. Each signature is part of a broader story—one of progress built year by year, agreement by agreement.

Signed in Solidarity

Today, that legacy lives on in every name captured here. From 1968 through 2023 and into the present day, each signature represents a shared commitment to progress—and a union that continues to grow, together. Installed at MLBPA headquarters in New York and recreated here, this wall stands as a permanent record of the players who put their names to the agreements that shaped the game.
