MLBPA Attorney Jeff Perconte Promoted to General Counsel
New York, March 11 – The Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) today announced that veteran attorney Jeff Perconte has been promoted to the role of General Counsel, a position previously held by Matt Nussbaum, who was appointed interim deputy executive director last month.
Perconte, who had served as the Association’s Deputy General Counsel since 2022, first joined the MLBPA in 2017 after several years as a federal prosecutor, trial attorney at the law firms Winston & Strawn and Faegre Drinker, and law clerk to the Honorable Timothy J. Corrigan. Prior to beginning his law career, Perconte was a four-year starter, First-Team Academic All American, and Co-Captain of the Notre Dame baseball team.
As General Counsel, Perconte will oversee the MLBPA’s Legal Department, play a pivotal role in collective bargaining, and work closely across the organization particularly with senior management from MLBPA-affiliated entities such as MLB Players, Inc. and the Players Trust.
