SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Feb. 27 – The Major League Baseball Players Association today announced the opening of its Arizona office. The new space will provide a central location to expand the current support given to Players before, during and after their careers.

“Our membership is highly concentrated in Arizona, both at the Major and Minor League levels, which makes it an ideal location for us to establish a presence,” MLBPA Executive Director Tony Clark said. “The office here will allow us to improve resources for Players’ professional development and business interests, while continuing to build a stronger network for interaction and engagement.”

Many active Players call Arizona home or have primary residences close by in either California or Nevada. Hundreds of former Players also call Arizona home year-round. Nearly 200 of the top minor league prospects converge in Arizona to play for one of the six Arizona Fall League teams every year between September and October. That number increases between February and April each year, during Spring Training which is held throughout the greater Phoenix area.

The office, which began operations in January, is approximately 10,000 square feet and located in North Scottsdale. It features a batting cage where product testing and Player evaluations metrics are captured, as well as a production studio and meeting space for the MLBPA, MLB Players, Inc., the Players Trust and our brothers and sisters in the other professional sports unions.

The Association had been exploring options for a presence in both Arizona and the Dominican Republic since the PA’s Executive Board Meeting in 2019.

In December, the MLBPA announced that it had established an office in the Dominican Republic, to further support the needs of international Players.
