MLB Players, Inc., PSA debuts groundbreaking Players Collection trading card program

Cards hand-pulled by baseball stars and authenticated by PSA to be auctioned starting September 30

New York, September 15 – MLB Players, Inc., the business arm of the Major League Baseball Players

Association (MLBPA), unveiled its inaugural Players Collection in collaboration with Professional Sports

Authenticator (PSA). The Players Collection features cards personally pulled by the athletes themselves

and authenticated with a custom PSA pedigree label.

Beginning September 30, 60 cards from the Players Collection will go live at auction. For the first time,

baseball fans and collectors will get the opportunity to own a piece of the game’s legacy.

During Spring Training, MLB Players, Inc. filmed players opening dozens of card boxes, capturing their

reactions to various rare finds. This marks the first time a set was physically handled by the very athletes

who define the game, and authenticated as one standalone collection, in partnership with PSA.

Collectors will know which player pulled each card, and in select cases, they’ll also be able to view a one-

of-a-kind video of the moment it was opened, featuring the player’s reactions, exclusive insights, and

commentary.

“With this program, we wanted to create a fun opportunity for our players and the broader collecting

community,” said Alex Goodman, Director of Baseball Cards and Memorabilia at MLB Players, Inc.

“Opening cards with the guys and hearing their reactions, memories, and stories was special. When you

combine those moments with these iconic cards, and bring it all together into one collection, it becomes

an entirely new experience for fans. We’re grateful to PSA for the partnership on card grading and

authentication, and we’re proud to bring this idea to life.”

"As the sport that sparked the entire industry, baseball holds a unique place in the hearts of collectors,”

said Ryan Greene, Director of Athlete and Artist Partnerships at PSA. “We’re thrilled to work with MLB

Players, Inc. to bring this unique pedigree collection and a one-of-one auction to life. This is a project

that, through PSA-graded cards, connects hobbyists to some of the top athletes in the world.”
