The Players Association is saddened by the death of Dick Moss, a trusted ally of founding Executive Director Marvin Miller and a pivotal figure in the history of the union.
Dick played a prominent role in the Curt Flood and Andy Messersmith cases that paved the way for the advent of free agency in baseball.
He was instrumental in numerous collective bargaining negotiations that helped advance the rights of players in his role as the MLBPA’s general counsel. Moss later represented over 250 major leaguers as a respected player agent.
We extend our sympathies to Dick’s family and friends and remember him for a lifetime of contributions to the player community.
