Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) today announced a joint financial donation of $1 million to the Red Cross to help people affected by the recent Venezuela earthquakes. In the wake of two consecutive powerful earthquakes that devastated communities in Caracas, La Guaira and surrounding areas on June 24th, 2026, this contribution will help the Red Cross to provide emergency assistance such as shelter, healthcare, mental health services, access to safe water and the distribution of essential relief items.

Given the long relationship between Major League Baseball and Venezuela, MLB and the MLBPA have joined together to provide immediate aid.  Team Venezuela won the 2026 World Baseball Classic and 60 Major Leaguers on Opening Day rosters were born in the country. The combined $1 million donation will provide a framework by which the Red Cross and its international partner societies can directly deploy essential resources to support these overextended relief networks.

"Venezuela is home to many Major Leaguers and the country and its fans have contributed so much to the game of Baseball,” said Commissioner of Baseball Robert D. Manfred, Jr.  “Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and everyone enduring the aftermath of this disaster. Through this joint donation to the Red Cross, we hope to provide critical resources to the brave first responders and offer meaningful support to the Venezuelan people as they begin the difficult recovery process."

“The MLBPA stands with our Players from Venezuela, their families, and the countless others affected by the devastating earthquakes in Caracas, La Guaira, and neighboring regions,” said Interim Executive Director Bruce Meyer. “As rescue and recovery efforts remain underway, we are committed to providing our full support as the Venezuelan people recover and rebuild from this tragedy.”

Fans wishing to support the relief efforts are encouraged to visit RedCross.org/MLB to make a financial contribution or learn more about how they can help those affected by the disaster.
