Eli Trop was born and raised in Seattle, Wash., and pitched collegiately for the University of Pennsylvania. His father, Dave, was a rower at MIT, and his sister, Claire, is a standout soccer player for Team USA. From 2022-24, Trop posted a 7-2 record with a 3.07 ERA in 48 appearances as a reliever for Penn. He struck out 82 batters in 55 2/3 innings and held opposing hitters to a .179 batting average. With Trop leading the back end of the bullpen, the Quakers won back-to-back Ivy League Tournament titles and made two straight NCAA Regional appearances. When the Philadelphia Phillies selected Trop in the 16th round of the 2024 MLB draft, he became the 25th Player in program history to be drafted. Trop pitched for the Clearwater Threshers in the Florida State League in 2024-25.
