About

Whit Merrifield, a South Carolina native, played for four clubs over the course of his nine-year career, debuting in 2016 with the Kansas City Royals and making three All-Star teams. Merrifield served on baseball’s competition committee and was a signee to the 2022 collective bargaining agreement. “The main goal was to not only reflect what Players are making based on the growth of the game,’’ he said, “but to improve the game and improve competitiveness and making it to where teams are fighting to win year in and year out. We feel like we did some things to help with that.”
