Ryan Long grew up in the Seattle area and was a two-way baseball standout at Overlake High School. He was a two-time Emerald City League MVP and an all-Washington state selection after posting an 8-1 record with a 0.45 ERA and logging a batting average of .440. He played for Division III Pomona College, where he graduated with a degree in philosophy, politics and economics, before signing with the Baltimore Orioles as a 17th round pick in the 2021 MLB draft. Long posted an 18-25 record with a 4.32 ERA and averaged 8.1 strikeouts per nine innings pitched. Long represented Great Britain in both the 2023 and 2026 World Baseball Classics. In December 2025, Long and Adam Stone were chosen by their fellow Players to serve as Minor League Association Player Representatives.
